A large part of our production occurs in Bangladesh; this factory has signed the Bangladesh Accord. This agreement is based on the principle of guaranteeing workers' safety in Bangladesh. The factories are checked for structural safety, fire safety, and electricity safety. Independent experts carry out these checks. After the audits, a plan has been drawn up to resolve all issues. Together with the Bangladesh agreement, we ensure that Bangladesh workers can go to work without any worries in the future. For more information, visit the Bangladesh Accord website.
We keep an eye on the working conditions at all our suppliers. We do this with the help of 'Social Compliance audits.' These are audits performed by independent parties who audit suppliers in the following areas:
- Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining
- Fair pay
- Employee health and safety
- Superior protection for young workers
- No forced labor
- Ethical business operations
- No discrimination
- Decent working hours
- No precarious employment
- Environmental protection
Most of our products are made by suppliers audited by the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI). BSCI is the most famous organization in the field of Social Compliance. They check the suppliers on the above points and draw up a report with points for improvement for the supplier. They work according to a continuous improvement process, in which the progress of the supplier is central. They also ensure that suppliers receive training to improve working conditions step by step.
In addition to BSCI, other organizations monitor suppliers' Social Compliance. Therefore, some of our suppliers work with other organizations on their improvement process in the field of working conditions. The organizations they work with are all globally recognized. Consider SedexGlobal, for example.
Control in our factories
We regularly visit our suppliers in all production countries to build a good relationship. During the visits to our suppliers, we also look at the facilities available for the employees, the machines they work with, and the substances they use. We all do this to ensure that our products are made properly.
